What an interesting last year or two it’s been. Names that we had never heard of before are suddenly some of the biggest names in the music world. These household mega stars have paved the way toward greatness, and it should be interesting to see if they can maintain just as big a presence in the future.
Anyway, let’s take a look at some of the hottest names in music as we enter a new decade. Did your favorites make my list here?
First, there’s the Jonas Brothers. It seems like every teenage girl is obsessed with these heartthrobs, as their clean cut image and catchy pop music has inspired a massive legion of fans. The brothers will continue to churn out hits as their popularity remains high.
On the female side of things, nobody was bigger than Lady Gaga was in 2009. Her debut album came in 2008, but it was really 2009 that became the year of this icon.
Many are comparing her to Madonna, and she welcomes the comparison. Her aspirations are high and it seems that this pop star is here to stay.
There’s also Taylor Swift. With a twinge of country inflected into her pop music, her songs are reminiscent of that 90s pop that dominated the airwaves for so long, and that may be what makes her so successful. Her good looks and charming personality never hurt either.
Lastly, let’s go with another newcomer to the scene. Adam Lambert wowed millions of Americans during his stint on American Idol. While he ultimately lost the competition to Kris Allen, this second place finisher will likely be the more popular artist going forward.
Lambert has an absolutely huge fan base, and his debut release received some pretty high marks from critics. Expect to see more of this glam-rock singing talent for a while.
