When the pop outfit emerged from behind a giant digital screen for opener “This is the Night,” it felt anticlimactic; at this point you almost expect the bros to be beamed onstage.

Nevertheless, the blueprint for the night was set from the first song: Nick and Kevin Jonas played guitar and looked mildly wounded, while sunglass-wearing Joe Jonas paraded out front, handling most of the lead vocal duty in between schmoozing with the audience, jogging across the stage and generally soaking up attention.

With a five-piece band in the shadows behind them, the trio ran through the high-powered “Hold On,” good- time romp “Year 3000″ and “Play My Music.”

Joe and Nick each got their solo segments – Joe on duets with opener Demi Lovato and Nick on acoustic guitar for the acceptance anthem “Who I Am.”

The clutch-hands-to-chest moments included “Fly With Me,” ballad “When You Look Me In the Eyes” and the first song the bros ever wrote, “Please Be Mine,” with childhood pictures flashing onscreen – cue girls in the audience fighting back tears.

Tender interludes were balanced by danceable hits, including the rollicking “Paranoid,” “S.O.S.” and “Burnin’ Up,” with bodyguard Big Rob on rap duty.

Amidst the hysterical screaming and marriage proposals from fans, the bros do aim for musical credibility, so it wasn’t surprising they included a cover of a Beatles tune, albeit “Drive My Car.”

A run-through of their earlier material allowed the clan to move beyond the status of pop cardbord cutouts and reveal their personalities – Nick measured and serious, Joe jovial and goofy, Kevin quiet and sturdy in the shadows.

The bros’ forthcoming Disney movie, “Camp Rock 2,” made frequent appearances throughout the night. Besides a performance of “Heart and Soul” during the JoBro set, Lovato devoted about half of her opening stint to songs from the movie. More interesting was her own material, including “Don’t Forget” and “Got Dynamite.” The 18-year-old “Sonny With a Chance” star sported lighter hair, fiercer threads and a sass that suggests she may not be in wholesome teen pop land for long.
