The Jonas Brothers are Nick, Joe and Kevin. They are known for their wholesome, kid-friendly image and have publically acknowledged they are Evangelical Christians. They famously wear purity rings to symbolize their commitment to abstaining from premarital sex.
The Jonas Brothers band signed a record deal with Columbia in 2005. Throughout the year they toured heavily with Kelly Clarkson, Jesse McCartney and The Click Five and an anti-drug tour with Aly & AJ and the Cheetah Girls.
In 2006 the band released ?It?s About Time,? in which the brothers collaborated with several prominent songwriters including Adam Schlesinger, Desmond Child and Steve Greenberg. The limited release didn?t do well and in early 2007 Columbia Records dropped the band.
In 2007 the Jonas Brothers signed with Hollywood Records and made commercials and contributed songs to two movie soundtracks and Disney compilations. In August of 2007 the band released a self-titled second album, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Magazine Hot 200 chart in its first week of release.
In support of this album the band released two singles with music videos and made several television appearances including guest-starring on the Disney channel?s ?Hannah Montana.? In the episode they performed the song ?We Got the Party? with Miley Cyrus. The episode debuted after the popular ?High School Musical 2? and reportedly 10. 7 million people watched it.
More television appearances including an appearance on Miss Teen U.S.A. pageant, the Teen Choice Awards and the American Music Awards created a lot of buzz for the band. In early 2008 the band started their ?Look Me in the Eyes? tour in Tucson, which ended in March. After the tour the Jonas Brothers went on tour with Avril Lavigne on her European tour.
In July on the heels of being the first band to sell more than 100,000 digital downloads for three consecutive singles, the Jonas Brothers band was featured on the cover of music magazine Rolling Stone.
While on tour with Avril Lavigne the band?s Disney Channel Original Movie, ?Camp Rock? premiered and the soundtrack was released. The soundtrack debuted at No. 3 on Billboard magazine?s Hot 200 charts and sold nearly 200,000 copies in the first week. In July the band kicked off another tour to promote their new album, ?A Little Bit Longer,? released in August and the Disney movie. In August 2008 the band released its third studio album, ?A Little Bit Longer.? Another album and movie are scheduled for release in 2009. Due to their enormous success Disney has signed the band to various projects.
The brothers have graced the pages of every teen magazine including Seventeen, J-14 and Teen Vogue. Celebrity magazines like People, Us Weekly and teen magazines have also reported on the brothers? personal lives. Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus have been linked romantically; now teen magazines and People magazine speculate Joe Jonas and singer Taylor Swift are more than just friends.
The Jonas Brothers are expected to perform at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. Their album ?A Little Bit Longer? has surpassed Miley Cyrus?s in first-week sales, selling more than a half a million copies.
