The debut album ?Daughtry? by Chris Daughtry and his band is a solid building point after coming off of his success as an unlikely rocker type finalist on the Fox network’s ?American Idol?.
If you?re an ?Idol? fan, you are probably no stranger to this bald-headed North Carolina native and his rock-based but highly versatile musical style. And in this first release, Daughtry is more than effective.
The album starts off strong with a rock tune packed with emotion in ?It?s Not Over?. From there, Daughtry and his band move on to take the listener on a ride through everything from power ballads to hard rock to songs with a bit of a poppy or even country edge to them.
To break it down, I?d rate the songs something like this:
1. It?s Not Over ? 3.5/5
2. Used To ? 3.5/5
3. Home ? 3/5
4. Over You ? 4/5
5. Crashed ? 3.5/5
6. Feels Like Tonight ? 3/5
7. What I Want ? 4/5
8. Breakdown ? 3/5
9. Gone ? 3.5/5
10. There and Back Again ? 3.5/5
11. All These Lives ? 3.5/5
12. What About Now ? 3/5
The keys to this album are two fold. First off, Daughtry?s voice proves to be more than sufficient to belt out an array of catchy and powerful lyrics. Second, the similarities to, and inspirations of, notable rock superstars like Fuel, Live, Bon Jovi and more, makes for a nice mix and good overall recording.
I rate this album 3.5/5 or on a grading scale a solid ?B?. If you like what this guy did on ?American Idol? or are a fan of mainstream rock, you should definitely enjoy this.

I really enjoyed the top 5 American idol group song last night. It was heartbreaking to see Aaron Kelly got rid of but I do believe the others were better singers so he had to go!
I see American Idol winner Lee has just signed up to RCA records. I can’t wait to hear his new album.
I believe Donald Trump would be a much better American Idol judge compared with Harry Connick Jr. – Trump isn’t afraid to express what he thinks and can be as controversial as Simon Cowell.
