iPhone ›› Action ›› Need For Speed Undercover By John Davison November 30, 2009 15:16 PM PST

Last week we looked at the top 20 highest grossing iPhone games in the iTunes App Store. Here’s a look at how the top 10 now looks after all those Thanksgiving sales.

Lots of movement in the top grossing iPhone App space over this past week, in most part fueled by the substantial offers that big players like Electronic Arts and Gameloft were giving to stimulate sales of their older titles. That said though, the number one title for the week held onto its spot without budging on price at all.

For last week’s top grossing iPhone games, check here.

$9.99

Further proof that the Call of Duty franchise just dominates right now. It was number one last week, and it’s number one again this week with no price change. It’s still just one map with plenty of multiplayer options, but iPhone gamers are going crazy for it. Zombies rule, apparently.

$2.99

Bumping up a couple of places thanks to a $2 reduction in price just one week after it’s launch, EA and Hasbro’s “traditional” version of Monopoly is proving to be a big hit. The more convoluted “Here and Now” edition slipped considerably by comparison, and is not in the top 10 at all. Proof that the simplest option is the best when it comes to traditional games?

$2.99

Further proof that pricing of the classics really helps, Tetris climbed one place thanks to a $2 price cut over the past week. If you’re still thinking “who hasn’t played Tetris and would want to buy it again?” it’s worth noting that the iPhone version has some unique modes in it, including one in which you draw pieces to slot into available spaces as the blocks fall. It’s more stressful than you’d think!

$2.99

No price movement here… but you’ve no doubt seen more and more of your Facebook friends playing Bejeweled Blitz on their iPhone. With a penny shy of $3 you can feed that addiction from anywhere.

$2.99

Another game that EA moved the price on halfway through last week, Scrabble climbed a couple of places over the last week.

$4.99

Not sure what this says about The Sims…but this one dropped three places after the price drop from $6.99 to $4.99 last week. Something’s got to give though, right?

$2.99

A huge jump for Need for Speed over the past week, leaping over similar titles like the excellent Asphalt 5 which was outselling it last week. Clearly the price reduction on this one was a significant factor, as Undercover wasn’t even in the top 20 last week.

$6.99

A jump from 14th place to 8th thanks to a $3 price drop. Madden on the iPhone is surprisingly full-featured. If you’ve been on the fence about trying it, now’s the time to take the plunge.

$1.99

Nowhere to be seen last week, IUGO’s bomb-based physics-puzzler Implode was recently updated with new levels, and new features that make it a faster, and smoother experience. Physics toys are certainly no rarity in the App Store, but this one is proving to be very popular, and very highly-rated by users.

$4.99

Reduced to $0.99 over the Thanksgiving break, but already back up to its full price of $4.99, Gameloft’s Brothers in Arms first person shooter got the boost it needed to crack the top 10 last week, after wallowing way down on the chart in previous weeks.
