When Final Fantasy XIV was announced at last year’s E3 it was revealed as a console exclusive to the PS3, but the fact of the matter is PC gamers will get their hands on it several months before any PS3 owner.
Therefore, the PC version of FF XIV will be available in just a couple months – September 22. On that date, a special $75 edition of the game, which comes packed with a behind-the-scenes DVD, a special token, a FF XIV tumbler, a journal, and an exclusive in-game item, will hit store shelves.
Consumers who want the standard $50 version will have to wait another week, until September 30.
Both versions come with a free 30-day trial to the online game, but thereafter it will cost $12.99 a month to maintain, with $3 more per month for extra characters on the account.
However, those who prefer a console gaming experience will have to wait all the way until March of next year. That’s a 6-month gap between the PC and PS3 releases. It’s another punch to the gut for Sony faithful that had to share what would have been Final Fantasy XIII exclusivity with an Xbox 360 version of the game.
A PC beta of Final Fantasy XIV will open up later this month.
