PlayStation ›› RPG ›› Final Fantasy VIII By AJ Glasser January 13, 2010 18:00 PM PST

Somehow everything old is new again when it’s Christmas Day and you need something to download and play.

December was a busy month for the PlayStation 3. According to a press release sent out this evening, 1.7 million PS3s were sold this during the holiday season; and December saw a 155% increase in PlayStation Network activity over December 2008′s levels.

The big ticket item on PSN: Final Fantasy VIII. Sony reports that the 1999 Japanese role-playing game took the number one spot over PixelJunk Shooter and Final Fantasy VII.

For a bit of fun, let’s compare FFVIII’s theme, “Eyes on Me,” to the newly-announced Final Fantasy XIII theme, “My Hands” below:

“Eyes on Me” was composed by Nobuo Uematsu and performed by Faye Wong — most memorably played during the ending of FFVIII.

“My Hands” was composed and performed by Grammy Award nominee Leona Lewis for the English version theme of FFXIII.

Which do you like better?
