The Enchanted Disney movie is definitely an enchanting movie as it starts in Andalasia with a woodland princess, Giselle who finally found her Prince Charming, Prince Edward. They decided to marry the next day. Then, Queen Narissa, step-mother to Prince Edward banished Giselle from Andalasia to keep her status as the Queen of Andalasia. Giselle magically transformed from an animated character into a real-life character and was sent to the present day New York. No doubt, Giselle was ignored by the people of New York, where she met people from all walks of life. She even met a man who she regarded as Grumpy, one of the seven dwarfs from ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs‘. That is until she met Robert, a divorce lawyer and his daughter, Morgan.

At first, Robert was reluctant to let Giselle stay at his house, but changed his mind after seeing Giselle sleeping on his couch. The next morning, Giselle was stunned by the dirty condition of Robert’s house. So, she hummed a tune and within seconds, urban animals such as rats, coach roaches and birds made their way to Robert’s house. She sang the Happy Working Song which was with references from Whistle While You Work from ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ and The Work Song from ‘Cinderella’ while cleaning the place.

Robert and Morgan woke up with dismay when they saw their house filled with wild animals. They eventually chased all the animals out of the house. Then Robert’s soon-to-be fiance, Nancy Tremaine came knocking on the door and saw Robert with Giselle, which caused a mis-understanding. After Robert sent Morgan to school, he brought Giselle to the office with him.

The story continues with Prince Edward going through the vortex in search of his bride. One of Giselle’s animal friend, Pip who is a squirrel followed him and flew into the real world. Unfortunately, Pip could not talk in real life. So, he had to pantomime everything that he wants to say, to Prince Edward. Meanwhile, in Andalasia, Queen Narissa was worried and restless that her plan would fail. She convinced Nathaniel, her henchman to follow Prince Edward, so that he does not find Giselle and take over her throne.

Giselle weeped after finding out that a couple was getting a divorce. So, Robert gave some money to Giselle, asking her to go and find her Prince. When he saw her giving all her money to an old lady sitting on a bench, he went to accompany her at the park. At the park, they talked about their love relationships, which got Giselle to sing the song, That’s How You Know . Her singing resulted in the people in the whole park singing along.

Giselle asked two birds to send a wreath of flower along with the tickets to the Kings and Queens Ball, to Nancy. Nancy was so excited when she received the gift and forgave Robert. Robert allowed Giselle to continue staying at his house because he believes that her prince would never come for her. While they were in a conversation about that topic, Prince Edward knocked on every door in the building and finally knocked on Robert’s door. Thus, he finally succeeded in finding his bride.

However, that’s not how the story ends… Will Giselle finally marry Prince Edward? Will Giselle finally have her true love’s kiss? Will Robert finally marry Nancy? Or will something unexpected happen?

Enchanted The Movie

Enchanted the movie is based on the typical Disney themes, such as ‘Be true to yourself‘ and ‘Dreams do come true‘. Directed by Kevin Lima, this movie’s storyline is derived from the all-time favorite, timeless tales - ‘Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs’ , ‘Cinderella’ and even ‘Sleeping Beauty’. It is also a tribute to Disney animated characters, casts and crews. The casts consist of brilliant actors/actresses such as Amy Adams who protrayed Giselle (the Princess), Patrick Dempsey as Robert Philip (the Hero), James Marsden as Prince Edward, Susan Sarandon as Queen Narissa, Timothy Spall as Nathaniel and Idina Menzel as Nancy Tremaine.

Amy Adams has already won 11 out of 17 nominations and still counting. She is a rising star and got even more popular with the release of Enchanted movie. She has been the talk of movie-goers since they watched the show. People just couldn’t take their eyes off her highly energetic performance. She’s absolutely brilliant in playing her role as a Disney princess in this story. Amy truly did bring the fairy-tale princesses to life. Movie-goers would definitely agree with me that she really reflects how Disney princesses would act in their respective stories.

The box-office Enchanted movie is a predictable and yet interesting movie until the end of the story. For most comedy shows or movies, there is usually the ‘not so smart’ character to spice up the story. Enchanted the movie is not an exception as the character is Prince Edward, which is portrayed by James Marsden. There is no doubt that he acted exceptionally well in the movie as he was also the Cyclops in X-Men, X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand. Besides that, he recently sang a number in Hairspray named ‘Trouble On The Line’. No wonder, he could sing harmoniously with Amy Adams the song, ‘True Love’s Kiss’ in the movie, Enchanted .

Then, there is Patrick Dempsey who is well-known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd in the television show, Grey’s Anatomy. In this movie, he plays a divorce lawyer who accidentally stumbles into an animated character who came to life, Giselle. The dreamy Patrick Dempsey stays dreamy even though he acts as a divorce lawyer who do not believe in a “happily ever after” story.

Besides acted characters, there are also CGI(Computer Generated Image) characters such as Pip, the chipmunk from Andalasia(the animated world). For example the CGI created roaches, mouse and birds in the scene where they helped Giselle to clean up Robert’s apartment. The CGI characters looked so real. It is really amazing.

Furthermore, there were also amazingly well choreographed songs in this Disney movie, Enchanted. The songs that were sung in the movie are:

• True Love’s Kiss
• Happy Working Song
• That’s How You Know

True Love’s Kiss was sung in the animated world while the Happy Working Song and That’s How You Know was sung in the present world. The Happy Working Song was sung by Amy Adams and there were also some singing and humming by the urban animals helping her cleaning up the apartment in the movie. The song, That’s How You Know on the other hand, is the most complex song as it involves hundreds of people dancing and singing along to the song. Enchanted is another Disney movie that should not be missed.

Personally, with it’s awesome cast, animations and songs, I would give it a 9 out of 10 rating.

American Music Awards 2007

The 35th American Music Awards was held on November 18 2007 at the Nokia Theater L.A. It was hosted by Jimmy Kimme.

An interesting thing happened during the award show. Guess what?

Joe of the Jonas Brothers felt down when they came out of the “glass” sheet onto the stage. He slipped and slided across the stage. Nice… slide! Is it scripted or is it an accident?

I think it is an accident ‘cos his shoe knocked the bottom of the frame causing him to fly across the stage.

After the Jonas Brothers were introduced, two girl fans rush up the stage to the amazement of everyone. The security guards had to do what they are supposed to do - calmly escorted them of the stage.

When Sugarland were singing Beyonce’s song,  “Irreplaceable” , all of a sudden Beyonce came on stage and join them in singing her song. The song was quoted as the most heard song of the year. Beyonce was awarded the International Artist award.

Beowulf Epic Movie

Beowulf Epic 2007 movie is based on an old English epic poem. The movie is very special as it a blending of filmed actor performances, computer generated animation and special effects to create a unique animated movie. Some may say that it look more video game like than a movie.The movie was released in IMAX and regular theatres in the United States, Canada and UK on 16 November 2007. Seeing the 3-D version (with the 3-D glass, of course) will certainly be a great experience.

Beowulf epic has been approved by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to compete for an Animated Feature Oscar. So, let’s see whether it can be one of the three nominees.

Beowulf Characters Of Beowulf (2007) Movie

Beowulf Characters in the epic movie Beowulf are a blend of real actors, animation and special effects, which resulted in “video-games-like” characters. The Beowulf movie is a cinematic adaption of the English Language’s most enduring epic adventure poem, which was written between 7th and 8th Century. The movie, which is directed by Robert Zemeckis is a computer animated movie using the motion capture technique. In this animation technique, frames of the actors’ motions and sceneries were computer generated. The movie was released on November 16, 2007 in the United States, Canada and UK.

The main character is Beowulf, a hero of the Geats in Ancient Sweden. The antagonists are the monster Grendel, Grendel’s mother and a fire-breathing dragon. The story was based on an ancient poem of unknown authorship. The poem details Beowulf heroic exploits and his battle with the three antagonists, until his death after being mortally wounded in the final battle.

Beowulf: Beowulf, the main character in the movie is a Greatish hero. In the movie, Beowulf is portrayed by Ray Winstone. Beowulf is the ultimate hero, who exemplifies all the traits of a true hero - courage, strength, loyalty, courtesy, pride and compassion. In his youth, Beowulf was a great warrior and a great King when in old age. He become king when King Hrothgar died. He fought in three major battles. In the final battle with the dragon, Beowulf succumbed to his injuries and died in the arm of
Wiglaf.

Grendel: Grendel is a trollish creature descended from the Biblical Cain. This character is portrayed by Crispin Glover. Unable to stand the loud celebration of the newly constructed mead hall, Grendel attacked and devoured King Hrothgar’s warriors. King Hrothgar offered a handsome reward for anyone who can defeat Grendel. The battle of Grendel and Beowulf is the first battle of Beowulf. In this battle, Grendel’s arm was torn by Beowulf and Grendel ran off to his home in the mashes to die.

King Hrothgar: King Hrothgar is a Danish King. In the movie, King Hrothgar is portrayed by Anthony Hopkins. He was good and generous king. In the opening scene of the movie, King Hrothgar was shown celebrating the construction of his new mead hall called the Heorot. The noise from the celebration infuriated Grendel who broke into the Heorot and killed King Hrothgar warriors.

Grendel’s mother: An unnamed character, who is the mother of Grendel was portrayed by Angelina Jolie. Grendel’s mother attacked the Heorot in revenge, after Grendel was killed. She killed King Hrothgar’s most trusted warrior, Eschere, in revenge for Grendel’s death. Later, she battled with Beowulf with he ventures into her cave home. She appears to Beowulf as a beautiful nude woman with gold liquid dripping from her skin. Grendel’s mother nearly won the battle until Beowulf found a sword in the swamp. She was killed by Beowulf with the sword.

The Dragon: The dragon’s battle with Beowulf is the third and last battle for Beowulf. The dragon attacked a village outside of Heorot. Beowulf and Wiglaf went to the cave of Grendel’s mother, to search for the dragon. A battle ensues and the dragon was finally killed with Wiglaf’s help. The dragon was then revealed to be the son of Beowulf.

Wiglaf: Wiglaf is one of the warriors who went with Beowulf to the cave to fight the dragon. However, he was the only one brave enough to help Beowulf, while the rest run away in fear. Beowulf died in his arm when he succumbed to the injuries from the battle with the dragon.

Unferth: Unferth is portrayed by John Malkovich. He is King Hrothgar’s most trusted adviser who is jealous of Beowulf’s fame. Unferth is not brave enough to fight Grendel himself.

Wealhtheow: Queen Wealtheow, Hrothgar’s wife is the Queen of the Danes.

The other minor Beowulf characters are Shield Sheafson (the legendary Danish king), Hrethric (Hrothgar’s elder son), Hrothmund (the second son of Hrothgar) and Hrothulf (Hrothgar’s nephew).
